"'Tis calm indeed! so calm, that it disturbs
And vexes meditation with its strange
And extreme silentness. ..."

- "Frost at Midnight," Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Heavily inspired by several lectures from my Intro to Lit course. I have an awful time with speaking in class, so I decided to convey my thought processes/analyses through imagery in order to at least remember how I felt about topics we'd been discussing. I used a great deal of (rather personal) symbolism, though how apparent that might be to the viewer is unbeknownst to me.

Unfortunately, a lot of details were lost not only after scanning the original, but when adding in the "snowy" effect with acryllic paint (media which I am still teaching myself to attain a decent grasp of). Very depressing, considering how satisfied I was with the details in the feet/ankles. Still yet, I feel that I did a decent job blending warms and cools, despite that the highlights need a bit of work. The trees in the background, for once, do not make me feel as if I've done a quick and lazy scene.

During the last session of work on this piece, I became so engaged in it that, upon completion, I stood up and almost immediately collapsed due to dehydration and exhaustion. Definitely not one of my finest moments.

I am particularly fond of the plump little "generic" unicorn creatures prancing around on the ground.

Original measures 9x7".
